The gua sha technique involves repetitive frictioning with a smooth edged instrument. This rubbing technique on the skin can produce a red, speckled like rash appearance on the surface of the skin, which will disappear within a couple days depending on client’s general state of health. It can be applied to the back, neck, head, shoulders, chest, arms, legs, and around joints (depending on client’s condition).
On a cellular level, gua sha treats the connective tissue. (which connects the whole body system) Gua sha can break up tissue adhesions, increase cellular metabolism, promote circulation of blood and lymph, and remove waste material.
